March 24, 2020
Dear School Families and School Staff,
As you are aware, our schools have been using a flexible instruction model to deliver instruction since mid-March. We are very pleased with the intense efforts that our staff has put into this process. With the additional closing of our schools just announced by the Governor, it is our hope that we will enhance this process. In some schools we are looking to provide addition virtual classrooms activities. We are also looking to provide virtual spiritual experiences as well.
Guidance will be coming from your school on the availability of these virtual weekly and daily masses. We are confident that with the activities and instruction that has been provided by our schools, our children will be able to return to school this spring ready to resume classes in an appropriate place in the curriculum and by the end of the school year students will be prepared academically to move to the next grade.
All schools will remain closed through at least April 6, 2020 and all events, athletics, and extra-curricular activities scheduled during this time period should be cancelled or postponed. We will continue with our flexible instruction model.
I would like to thank you for your cooperation in this process and thank the teachers, staff and administrators at our schools for keeping this process going during this difficult time. Their dedication and commitment to our students has been outstanding.
We will continue to monitor the CDC recommendations as well as directives from governmental agencies and adjust policies accordingly. We continue to provide regular updates regarding this situation on a dedicated coronavirus page on the AOP Schools website. https://aopcatholicschools.org/covid-19-information/
This time is a challenging one for all of us. Our primary goal will remain to provide for the health and safety of all those entrusted to our care. The Office of Catholic Education has set up a dedicated point of contact where parents can share their questions and concerns. Messages may be sent to covid19@archphila-oce.org. Be assured of our continued prayers for all those affected by this virus.
Sincerely in Christ,
Andrew McLaughlin, Ed.D.
Superintendent for Elementary Schools
