EITC Tuition Assistance Funds from the Foundation for Catholic Education Direct to SMA School! Greetings! I am writing to remind you of a program that allows you to direct the state taxes that you are already paying to help students afford the Catholic education that we offer here at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic. I know that this may sound intimidating, but we are working with the Foundation for Catholic Education and they do virtually all the heavy lifting for you! The Educational Improvement Tax Credits (EITC) program is designed to allow eligible businesses and individuals designate their tax dollars to support schools, such as SMA School. This is one of the few opportunities you have to direct your tax dollars to a specific destination. These donations are then used for tuition assistance. Simply put, EITC allows you to redirect your state tax dollars to SMA School to help families with tuition assistance and to keep our school thriving. The program requires a minimum of only $1,000. You are eligible if you individually OR your business pay $1,000 or more a year in income taxes to the State of Pennsylvania. In return, you receive a 90% tax credit for your 2-year commitment. Example: You, through your business or personal income, owe PA state tax liability of at least $1,000. You fill out a commitment form and then we notify you when to write your check. At tax time you receive an acknowledgment that you have participated in this program which you include with your PA state tax return. You get to do a great thing, help families who really value Catholic Education and want their kids to have that experience, and it essentially costs you nothing.
We are currently receiving EITC funds from the Foundation for Catholic Education to support students in 2021-2022. While this is helpful, it would be great to have more funds available to help our families. The more participants in the program that we have, then the more money is available to us! If you are interested in learning more about this, I invite you to contact ASAP our Development Director, or Kevin J. Kelly, Vice President for Development at the Foundation for Catholic Education ([email protected]). Or call our school at 215-943-0222 / email me [email protected].
