Dear Parents,
Hello! My name is Mrs. Heather Brandt. I will be your child’s Kindergarten teacher for next year. Please work over the summer with your child on some of the basic skills that your child should be able to do when entering Kindergarten.
Kindergarten Summer Readiness guide
Over the summer, take your child to the library to get books out to read together or watch some stories online on you tube with your child. Ask your child questions about the stories. Some popular authors in Kindergarten are Mo Williams. He is the writer of the Pigeon books. Eric Carle is another famous author in Kindergarten. The children like the repetition in his books like Brown Bear Brown Bear What do You See!. The children usually love reading Pete the Cat books and ABC Alphabet books. The library has many books to chose from and the best part is they are free. The library also has a lot of fun educational programs that they offer over the summer also. There are many websites that have educational games to play with your children to help them learn. You tube also has a lot of educational videos to watch. Some good educational videos to watch are Leap Frog videos and Jack Hartman videos.
In math, you can help your child by having your child read counting books. As you read the story have your child count the objects in the book. You can have your child count out their favorite toys or snack. You can have your child identify different shapes around the house.
I can’t wait to meet you in the fall. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at hbrandt@sma-pa.org. Have a wonderful summer.
God Bless,
Mrs. Brandt
