This message is being sent on behalf of our Executive Director, Dr. Mark Hoffman.
By now you have likely heard the message that Central Bucks School District closed five school buildings today in order to deep clean the school buildings out of an abundance of caution. You can view the Superintendent’s letter to the community at this link:
Letter to Central Bucks Community from Superintendent Dr. John Kopicki
As the above letter states, it is important to note that there are no known or reported cases of coronavirus in Central Bucks School District, Bucks County or in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Central Bucks School District Superintendent decided to close Butler Elementary School, Titus Elementary School, Tamanend Middle School, Tohickon Middle School, and Central Bucks South High School to perform deep cleaning of these facilities, out of an abundance of caution.
Dr. Hoffman asked me to advise you that he has been in close contact with Central Bucks administration overnight and this morning and is currently onsite there today offering assistance.
He asked me to make sure that all of you are aware and are reminded that there are no known or reported cases of coronavirus in Central Bucks School District, Bucks County or in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
All Bucks IU classrooms and programs are in full session today and we have no reason to suspect a need to close any program or IU building at this time.
Dr. Hoffman will continue to keep you informed of any developments. As a reminder during this high flu and cold season, the Coronavirus is transmitted like the common flu virus and can be easily eliminated with good cleaning and personal hygiene practices. Common symptoms for coronavirus include fever, cough and/or shortness of breath. Some tips to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, such as coronavirus, include:
Cover coughs or sneezes with your elbow. Do not use your hands!
Wash hands often with soap and water for at least twenty (20) seconds.
If soap and water are not available, use a 60% or higher alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Clean surfaces frequently, including countertops, light switches, cell phones, electronic devices, remotes, and other frequently touched items.
Stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick to help prevent others from catching your illness. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your Supervisor.
All the best,
Rebecca
